Drug Uses
Myambutol is an antituberculosis agent used for treatment of progressive tuberculosis. Myambutol is effective against pulmonary and extrapulmonary forms of multisystemic infectious disease caused by the infectious agent Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Myambutol is indicated in combination with other antituberculosis agents, including in cases, when other antituberculosis compounds do not provide the significant therapeutic response.
When Myambutol is used for the first-line treatment of tuberculosis, the dosage of the antituberculosis makes 15mg per kilogram of bodyweight per day. The patients with recurrent tuberculosis are recommended to take a Myambutol dose of 25mg / kg / day for 8 weeks. Then the daily dose of Myambutol should be reduced to 15mg per kg of bodyweight.
Missed dose
If you have not taken an assigned dosage of Myambutol, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose of the chemotherapeutic agent, do not take Myambutol. Do not make up for missed doses of Myambutol with double dosage.
More Information
